2019 Kia Optima First Impressions: Comfortable and Brilliant
An impossible feat for Kia to make way with the new Optima among the long-time premium saloons manned by the German brands? Maybe yes, but Koreans try to focus on the good quality and appeal of their models and an aggressive strategy both in terms of proposals and prices. The Optima family, as they call it in Kia, consists of three cars, three productions, to which also correspond three different “anime”. First, the Optima for the most traditional user is the Sportswagon, a “familiar” motorized with a turbo-diesel 1.7 liter 141 HP. The most “eco-friendly” soul is, instead, guaranteed by the version with hybrid technology plug-in: 2000 cc petrol engine plus the electric with 204 HP of total power which can travel 50 km in electric-only mode. But the most intriguing of the 2019 Kia Optima is strong GT version of a power of 245 hp of 2000 cc and a turbo with direct fuel injection.
Available in the Sportswagon version is the answer to the premium cars considering that quality and performance are of absolute level. At the helm the GT pushes strong from low revs, accompanied by a gritty sound, but it is very homogeneous in the operation. Moreover, even with a sporting disposition of race, the GT remains a comfortable wagon: the suspensions with electronic control limit the disconnections and the steering is sufficiently light. To the point that, even with the generous size of the bodywork, the car does not lack agility. The automatic transmission does not warn the running steps, in addition to being quick as well as usable in manual mode with the levers behind the steering wheel.
2019 Kia Optima Release Date and Price
And we come to the prices: the first Optima of access to the range is the sedan with the 1700 turbo-diesel engine 141 HP: It is for sale at 29,500 euros, while the Sportswagon costs 30,500 euro. The GT Line variant with a more sporty set-up of Sportswagon, but the turbo-diesel engine costs 37,500 euros, while the top of the range with 2000 cc from 245 HP is listed at 45,000 euro in Sportswagon version. Finally the Plug-in Hybrid in sedan version, but with a complete set up of everything and even more than costs 44,000 euros. In the course of next year will also come the plug-in hybrid in Sportswagon version. The optimal like all Kia are offered a guarantee of 7 years or 150,000 km but benefit, in addition, of a series of facilitation and discounts that can reach up to 5,000 euros.
